THE SOUTHERN CONE
PART I CONCEPTION, CHILE

2010

The 2010 Chile earthquake, which occurred off the coast of central Chile on Saturday, 27 February with a magnitude of 8.8 on the moment magnitude scale triggered a tsunami which devastated several coastal towns in south-central Chile and damaged the port at Talcahuano. Only several days later I flew to Conception to document the devastation the earthquake had caused in the city and in the area where the Tsunami had hit the hardest. I collaborated with a NGO 'Un Techo Para mi Pais', who had helped rebuild houses in the affected areas. From there, I traveled further south to the city of Punta Arenas, from where I crossed over to the Argentinian side of Patagonia.
